When the Taiwan Entry and Exit Permit expires, the eligibility for enrollment in the NHI is interrupted. Therefore, it is recommended that an extension of the Taiwan Entry and Exit Permit be applied before its expiration date to avoid losing NHI coverage while maintaining the right to medical treatment.

6.Not all Medical Treatments are Covered by NHI
According to the regulations of the NHI, when illness, injury, or childbirth accidents occur, the NHI will provide coverage in accordance with the law. However, preventive surgeries, vaccinations, and other items (such as hepatitis B vaccinations, health checkups, etc.) are not covered.

7.Individuals holding the nationality of the Republic of China are required to enroll in the NHI with their family members (direct blood relatives) or enroll themselves at the public offices/branches of the NHI Bureau in their registered domicile (township, city, or district) in accordance with the regulations.
