一、Orientation for Overseas Chinese Students

Purpose of the Activity:To enhance the understanding of new overseas Chinese students about the campus environment and improve their adaptability for a smooth academic experience

Date of the Event:At the beginning of each academic year (usually around the start of September)

Target Audience:All new undergraduate and postgraduate (master’s and doctoral) overseas Chinese Students are eligible to participate

Content of the Orientation:

  1. Introduction to the services provided by the Overseas Students Advising Division.
  2. Introduction to student dormitories, regulations, and important information.
  3. Group discussions with Overseas Chinese Student Associations (led by advisors and committee from the student associations).

 

二、Orientation for Mainland Chinese Students

Purpose of the Activity:To help new students get comfortable with the learning environment and understand important rules for their academic journey before the academic year begins.

Date of the Event:Before the start of each academic year

Target Audience:First-year Mainland Chinese Students in undergraduate and postgraduate programs.

Content of the Orientation:

  1. Mainland Chinese Student’s rights advocation.
  2. Introduction to university resources.
  3. Submission of various documents and fees.

 

三、Overseas Chinese Student Associations Leadership Workshop

Purpose of the Activity:To enhance communication and understanding among student association committees, fostering cooperation to plan and organize joint events that all Overseas Chinese and Mainland Chinese Students will enjoy.

Participants:Newly appointed leaders and committee of Overseas Chinese and Mainland Chinese Student Associations

 

四、Leadership Handover Ceremony for Overseas and Mainland Chinese Students Associations and Mentors Symposium

Purpose of the Activity:To review the effectiveness of Overseas Chinese and Mainland Chinese Student Association activities, look forward to the future, and express gratitude to association committee for their dedicated service and to the mentors for their guidance

Participants:Student associations mentors, previous and next student association leaders and committee.

 

五、Overseas Students Celebration of the Dragon Boat Festival

Purpose of the Activity:To strengthen connections and communications among Overseas Chinese Student Associations, foster unity among students from different regions, encourage participation, and celebrate the Dragon Boat Festival together

Date of the Event:About the Dragon Boat Festival in June

Participants:Students from all Overseas Chinese and Mainland Chinese Student Associations in NTU

 

六、Lunar New Year Gathering

Purpose of the Activity:The event is led by the university president. It involves welcoming guests and teachers, conducting a traditional ancestral ceremony, featuring lion dances, performances by Overseas Chinese Student Associations, traditional music, lucky draws, and the distribution of red envelopes. At the end of the final exams, it provides an opportunity for students from different countries to come together and conveys the university’s care.

七、Hiking Event for Overseas Students

Purpose of the Activity:To promote friendship and social exchange among Overseas Chinese and Mainland Chinese Students and enrich their extracurricular life, aligning with the university’s sports culture

八、NTU World Carnival Festival

Purpose of the Activity:Co-organized with the Office of International Affairs, this event is promoted across the NTU system and combines the efforts of all Overseas Chinese, Mainland Chinese, and International Student Associations. It takes several months to prepare and includes dynamic thematic exhibitions, food presentation, and Overseas Chinese and International Students Singing Competition, creating a multicultural feast.

Date of the Event:2 days at the end of the second semester (late April) each academic year

Participants:All students from Overseas Chinese, Mainland Chinese, and International Student Associations, along with NTU system members and the general public

 

九、NTU Overseas Chinese Students Farewell Reception

Purpose of the Activity:To express the university’s sincere blessings and care to graduating Overseas Chinese and Mainland Chinese Students and their parents who have come a long way to attend the graduation ceremony

Date of the Event:Coordinated with the annual school graduation ceremony

Participants: Parents and the graduating Overseas Chinese and Mainland Chinese Students.

Content of the Activity:

  1. Graduation video production, NTU graduation gifts to graduates presentation, and reception for family and parents.
  2. Tea party, speeches by teachers, and group photos.

 

十、Departments Briefing Session for Overseas Chinese Student Affairs

Purpose of the Activity:To assist coordinators in various departments in understanding the situation of Overseas Chinese and Mainland Chinese Students and university resources, strengthening administrative connections, and exchanging experiences through question-and-answer session

Date of the Event:Annually in March

Participants:Coordinators from various departments in charging Overseas Chinese and Mainland Chinese student affairs

 

十一、Caring for Mainland Chinese Students Event

Purpose of the Activity:To care for the academic and life adaptation of Mainland Chinese Students, with activities providing information on university administration and learning resources, introduction of Mainland Chinese student related resources, and question-and-answer session.

Participants:Mainland Chinese Degree Students

Introduction to university administration and learning resources, introduction of Mainland Student related resources, and question-and-answer session


十二、Malaysia Overseas Service-Learning Program

Purpose of the Activity:This service program aims to develop social service and civic participation skills of students, fulfilling the core idea of service learning and improving the growth potential for both the service recipients and providers.

Date of the Event:Mid-July until the end of July

Participants: Currently enrolled students of the university

Content of the Activity:

High school science camp, elementary school seminars, nursing home and impoverished family services


十三、Annual Seminar on Personal Safety for Overseas Chinese and Mainland Chinese Students

Purpose of the Activity:To ensure the personal safety of Overseas Chinese and Mainland Chinese Students studying in Taiwan, prepare them for potential dangers, and help them build awareness of self-defense. External professional lecturers are invited to provide guidance.
