一、 Eligibility

To provide appropriate medical care for low-income overseas Chinese students who come to Taiwan for studying and encountering injuries or illnesses, so that they can focus on their studies. Low-income overseas Chinese students (including those from Hong Kong and Macau) can apply for the National Health Insurance subsidy for low-income overseas Chinese students through the Overseas Community Affairs Council.

二、Application Method

During new student registration or during the semester, overseas Chinese students can submit proof of low-income to the Overseas Students Advising Division for review. Once approved, they can enjoy a reduction in National Health Insurance premiums. Please refer to the proof of low-income document for the issuing unit (click on the link).

三、Subsidy Amount

The Overseas Community Affairs Council will subsidize 50% of the monthly National Health Insurance premium, and students will pay NT$413.

四、National Health Insurance Refund

Our school will pre-collect 6 months of national health insurance premiums per semester. If a student is eligible for premium reduction or for other reasons (such as taking a leave of absence or being covered by a work-study unit), and is not covered by National Health Insurance through the university, the Overseas Students Advising Division will notify them by email at the end of the semester to refund any overpaid premiums.

五、Low-income proof only needs to be submitted once. After being reviewed and approved, the National Health Insurance premium can be subsidized by half, and there is no need to provide proof every semester.
