2023 Hiking event for Overseas Students

The president of the Hong Kong alumni association and six other alumni returned to the campus to take part in the 95th-anniversary celebration. They had discussions with 30 students from Hong Kong and Macau, as well as scholarship recipients from the alumni association. The discussions focused on topics such as further education and employment, facilitating the exchange of opinions and sharing of experiences.

Overseas Students Advising Division organized the "2023 Hong Kong New Student Enrollment Guidance Seminar," where assistance was provided to new students from Hong Kong regarding enrollment registration, accommodation, health checks, and other relevant matters. The National Taiwan University Hong Kong and Macau Students Association, along with our own Hong Kong Alumni Association, featured senior alumni who shared their experiences and an overview of their academic life in Taiwan. The students and parents present at the event responded enthusiastically, and the seminar proceeded smoothly, concluding with great success.

Overseas Students Advising Division organized the "2023 Macau New Student Enrollment Guidance Seminar," which aimed to provide assistance to new students from Macau regarding enrollment registration, accommodation, health checks, and other relevant matters. During the event, the National Taiwan University Hong Kong and Macau Students Association, as well as our own Hong Kong Alumni Association, featured senior alumni who shared their experiences and an overview of their academic life in Taiwan. The venue was filled to capacity, and the seminar proceeded smoothly, concluding with great success.

Overseas Students Celebration of the Dragon Boat Festival - Every year on the eve of the Dragon Boat Festival, the Overseas Students Advising Division is preparing delicious rice dumplings and fruit for Overseas Students in the First Conference Room, with approximately 486 overseas Chinese students and foreign students in attendance.

Leadership Handover Ceremony for Overseas and Mainland Chinese Students Associations and Mentors Symposium-On June 12th, the student associations of overseas Chinese students, including the Malaysian Students Association, Hong Kong and Macau Students Association, Indonesian Students Association, Myanmar Students Association, Overseas Chinese Students Association, Overseas Chinese Graduate Students Association, and Mainland Chinese Students Association, held a leadership handover ceremony. The outgoing presidents of each association shared their experiences from the past year and expressed gratitude for the support of the executive members. The atmosphere at the event was warm and moving.

NTU Overseas Chinese Students Farewell Reception-With the lifting of border restrictions this year, many parents of overseas and mainland Chinese students have made a special trip from abroad to Taiwan to participate in the graduation activities. To bless the graduating overseas and mainland Chinese students and to serve the parents who have traveled from afar, the Overseas Students Advising Division arranged a welcoming reception tea party on May 27th at the First Student Activity Center. The event was packed with a full attendance, with 105 overseas and mainland Chinese students and 130 parents in attendance, creating a lively and warm atmosphere.

Points System (Scoring Criteria) for Foreign and Overseas Chinese Students to Work in Taiwan-The results of a survey on the learning and adaptation of overseas Chinese students conducted by the Overseas Students Advising Division showed that over 63% of the students expressed their willingness to work in Taiwan after graduation. In order to provide more information on the points system (scoring criteria) for working in Taiwan to assist overseas Chinese students, we invited Ms. Helen, Chi-Fang Ao, Section Chief of the Cross-Border Workforce Affairs Center, to give a lecture. The lecture was successfully held on May 19th in Classroom 103 of Liberal Arts Teaching Hall (Boya Lecture Building), with approximately 172 overseas Chinese students and foreign students in attendance.

【Annual Seminar on Personal Safety for Overseas Chinese and Mainland Chinese Students】 To increase awareness of personal safety among overseas and mainland Chinese students, we invited Inspector Leo Ho from the Taipei City Police Department's Daan Precinct to give a seminar on campus. The seminar covered personal safety and self-defense concepts, as well as crime prevention. The event took place on April 26th in Conference Room 1 of the Admin. Bldg. at NTU, with 83 students in attendance. Our hope is that this seminar will help students stay safe and prevent crime.

2023 Caring for Mainland Chinese Students Event

2023 Overseas Chinese and International Students Singing Competition-The International and Overseas Students Singing Competition attracted 23 individuals and 7 groups to participate in it. After more than 4 hours of intense competition, awards were won by students from Indonesia, Malaysia, Hong Kong and Myanmar. This singing competition successfully demonstrated NTU students’ strong musical talent and brought together overseas students from different countries and cultures.

2023 NTU World Carnival Festival-National Taiwan University System's "2023 Break & Fuse Fest - NTU World Carnival Festival " Opening Ceremony and Food and Culture Exhibition was held on March 25 at Zhoushan Road. 29 food and culture booths were set up by 22 teams of overseas students, allowing students, faculty and the public to experience multi-cultural exchange and taste the specialties of various countries.

LunarNewYearGathering-On Monday, December 26, National Taiwan University held the "Lunar New Year Gathering" event at noon in the old gymnasium. President Kuan Chung-Ming presided over the ceremony, Executive Vice President Lo Ching -Hua, Executive Vice President Chen Ming-Syan, Executive Vice President Chou Chia-Pei, Vice President for Student Affairs Wang Shih-Pe, Vice President for International Affairs Yuan Hsiao-Wei, NTU’s faculty members, and nearly 700 overseas and international students attended. The guests included the Overseas Community Affairs Council, the Overseas Chinese Association HQ, the China Youth Corps, and the National Taiwan University Malaysia Alumni Association. The event started by the President leading the guests and faculty members in the opening ceremony of the Lunar New Year, and the ancestor worship ceremony following ancient rituals to inherit the traditional culture of the Chinese nation.
