I. Work Permit Application
During Enrollment Overseas Compatriot Students who wish to work in Taiwan during their studies must obtain a work permit in advance.
How to Apply
Please visit the Ministry of Labor’s “Online Application System for Foreign Professionals”（Online Application System for Foreign Professionals） and select “Work Permit Application for Foreign and Overseas Chinese Students” to submit your application online. For detailed instructions on how to use the system, please refer to the User Manual available on the application website.
Required Documents
A. Passport
B. Student ID Card
C. Certificate of Enrollment
D. Students who have extended their period of study must also provide a Certificate of Extension of Study Period.
E. Students continuing to a higher degree who have not yet obtained their Certificate of Enrollment may apply to the Office of International Affairs (OIA) for a Certificate of Registration.
The work permit application period runs from October 1 of each year to September 30 of the following year. For example, applications submitted on or after October 1, 2026 may apply for a work permit valid until September 30, 2027 at the latest. Regardless of when the application is submitted during the academic year, the work permit may be valid until September 30 of the following year at the latest.
II. Individual Work Permit for NTU Graduates
National Taiwan University is among the universities ranked within the top 200 worldwide. Graduates who have obtained a bachelor’s degree or higher from NTU within the past five years may apply directly to the Ministry of Labor for an individual work permit in accordance with the Act for the Recruitment and Employment of Foreign Professionals. When applying through the “Online Application System for Foreign Professionals,” please select: “Work Permit under Article 11 of the Act for the Recruitment and Employment of Foreign Professionals (Graduates with a Bachelor’s Degree or Higher from a Top 200 University Worldwide)” The work permit is valid for up to two years from the date of issuance. During the validity period, holders may legally engage in professional work in Taiwan without having a single employer apply for a work permit on their behalf.
※ This work permit may only be applied for once and cannot be extended or reapplied for.
