I. Eligibility
NTU Encouragement Scholarship Announcement
※ This scholarship is administered in accordance with the NTU Guidelines for the Establishment of the Encouragement Scholarship.
(1) Current NTU students enrolled in Master’s or Doctoral programs, including domestic students and Overseas Compatriot students (excluding students enrolled in in-service programs), may apply for this scholarship if they: are from a financially disadvantaged background; have passed all courses taken in the previous academic year; have not received any disciplinary action during their enrollment at NTU;and did not receive scholarships or grants totaling more than NT$240,000 in the previous academic year. Applicants must also meet one of the following conditions:
1. Their academic performance in the previous academic year ranked within the top 50% of their class.
2. They do not have an academic ranking for one of the following reasons, but have been recommended by their academic advisor or thesis advisor as having demonstrated good academic performance:
(1) All courses taken were evaluated without numerical scores or letter grades.
(2) They did not take any courses at NTU because they participated in an overseas exchange or visiting program, pursued a dual degree overseas, or for other similar reasons.
(3) Their previous educational institution did not provide academic rankings.

(2) For the purposes of this scholarship, the following criteria apply to domestic students when determining financial hardship:
1. Holding a Certificate of Low-Income Household Status.
2. Holding a Certificate of Medium-Low-Income Household Status or a Certificate for Children from Families in Special Circumstances.
3. The applicant’s household income meets all of the following criteria:
(1) Total annual household income does not exceed NT$800,000.
(2) Total annual household interest income does not exceed NT$20,000.
(3) Total annual household business income does not exceed NT$50,000.
For unmarried students, household members include the student, the student’s parents and unmarried siblings, and grandparents or maternal grandparents who are registered at the same household address or live together. For married students, household members include the student, the student’s spouse and children, and parents who are registered at the same household address or live together.

II. Application Information for Eligible Overseas Compatriot Students
Eligible Overseas Compatriot students are required to submit the application documents to the Overseas Compatriot and Mainland Chinese Students Advising Division within the application period announced by the Division.
(1) Application Period September 14 (Mon.)–September 30 (Wed.), 2026
(2) Scholarship Amount NT$50,000 per recipient
(3) Number of Recipients The total number of scholarship recipients is limited to 60 students per academic year university-wide. Of the total number of scholarship recipients, the minimum number of recipients who are Overseas Compatriot students shall be determined based on the proportion of Overseas Compatriot students enrolled in Master’s and Doctoral programs to the total number of students enrolled in Master’s and Doctoral programs in the previous academic year. If the resulting number is not a whole number, it will be rounded up to one recipient. 
(4) Eligible Applicants Overseas Compatriot graduate students with financial hardship
(5) Application Method Applicants must complete both of the following during the application period: 1.Complete the online application through the Student Financial Support System.
2. Upload all required documents through the Overseas Compatriot and Mainland Chinese Students Advising Division Google Form. Late applications or applications with incomplete documents will not be accepted.
(6) Required Documents Please combine all documents into a single PDF file in the order listed below. All fields requiring a signature or other information must be completed and must not be left blank.
1. Signed Required Document Checklist The checklist can be printed after completing the online application through the Student Financial Support Services (Scholarships and Grants) System. Sample Document / SOP for Printing the Required Document Checklist
2. Encouragement Scholarship Application Form The form must be signed by your academic advisor or thesis advisor. Alternatively, you may submit a PDF file of an email from your advisor approving your application.
3. Review Criteria Form (Overseas Compatriot Students) Complete the self-assessment section. For each item with a self-assessment score higher than 0, please provide supporting documents in the order of the item numbers.

5. Certificate of Enrollment for Fall Semester 2026 (115-1) Please obtain it through myNTU → ePo Learning Portfolio → Print Certificate of Enrollment.
6. Academic Transcript and Certificate of Academic Ranking for Academic Year 2025 (114) First-year students must submit the academic transcript and certificate of academic ranking from their previous level of education. Please apply through the Office of Academic Affairs or print the documents using the self-service payment/printing machine. Screenshots of online grade records will not be accepted.
7. Applicants Without an Academic Ranking A recommendation from your academic advisor or thesis advisor, together with supporting documentation explaining the reason for the absence of an academic ranking.
8. Student Awards and Disciplinary Record First-year students must submit the awards and disciplinary record from their previous level of education.
9. Certificate of Financial Hardship for the Current Academic Year The certificate must be issued by an organization recognized by the Overseas Community Affairs Council, Republic of China.
