【Announcement】Reminder on Legal Part-Time Work for Overseas Compatriot and International Students During Summer Vacation
Overseas compatriot and international students who plan to work part-time during summer vacation must apply for a valid work permit from the Workforce Development Agency, Ministry of Labor, before starting work. Please also make sure that your work permit is still valid in order to protect your rights and avoid violating relevant regulations.
According to the Employment Service Act, foreign students in Taiwan are required to apply for an individual work permit before working. During the semester, students may work for up to 20 hours per week. However, the 20-hour weekly limit does not apply during winter and summer vacations.
If a labor dispute arises from part-time work and the workplace is located in Taipei City, students may apply to the Department of Labor, Taipei City Government, for labor-management dispute mediation. Students who have questions about working in Taiwan may also refer to the EZ Work Taiwan website of the Workforce Development Agency, Ministry of Labor, or contact the local labor authority.
